LaToya Collins-Jones: Merging Culture & Performance for Tomorrow’s Workplaces
At just 12, LaToya Collins-Jones ventured into the world of business as the go-to babysitter in her neighborhood. This early taste of entrepreneurship was just the beginning. Her journey from school days to earning an MBA from Troy University was dotted with diverse roles that deepened her understanding of leadership and the essence of diligence.
Paine College, an HBCU, was the next chapter, where a scholarship opportunity saw her dive deep into business studies, with aspirations to merge into the music industry. However, an insightful conversation with her college advisor unveiled the intriguing realm of HR. LaToya's dedication shone through internships at Time Warner Cable and YMCA of Greater Kansas City. Post-graduation, her independent streak flourished as she immersed herself in business consulting and economic development projects.
The year 2010 marked a new phase. LaToya and her family moved to Austin, TX, yearning for an experience within a corporate giant. Starting at Dell in Consumer Sales, she ascended to roles that nurtured startup ecosystems and empowered underrepresented business leaders. It wasn’t long before the entrepreneurial bug bit again, and "Pretty Geeky" was born, focusing on business and marketing automation.
However, LaToya's heartstrings tugged her back to Dell in 2017. With an undeniable passion for strategy and innovation, she pioneered roles in Diversity and Inclusion, eventually being honored as the VP of Culture, Diversity, and Inclusion in 2022.
Today, she stands at a unique intersection of culture, people, and performance, ardently advocating for businesses to thrive holistically.
